I don’t know about you, but in our house, the kitchen is the hub of all activity. Whether we’re busy cooking or the kids are diving into the fridge or cupboards to grab snacks, there’s always someone in there.
So, for us, it made perfect sense that when we were redecorating, the kitchen would be a great place to start out. We wanted the room to stand out within our house, so we decided a modern-chic design would help us achieve that.
First of all, we started thinking about the kitchen design we would go for. We’ve always had free-standing units in the room, but we decided we wanted to try a fitted kitchen for a while. So, after plenty of hunting around, in the end, we chose to go with Wren Kitchens, as they specialise in modern designs. We wanted to go for something bold and daring, so we decided to have an orange and white colour scheme throughout the space.
First of all, we painted all of the walls around the room white. This gave us the perfect blank canvas to work off. We then needed to choose the furniture to go in the room and decided that should be white too, in keeping with the rest of the colour scheme. We added the orange accents to our kitchen through the units. All of the cupboard doors and units were painted bright orange, so they really stood out, especially in contrast with the white walls.
The hard work we put in really paid off, as we’ve now got a fantastic, stylish and modern kitchen which we’re really proud of. Whenever we have people come to visit, they always comment on the modern-chic look we’ve got going on and that’s when we know it was well worth the effort!
